Abstract:
In the renovation of Huangpi Wuhu pumping station in Wuhan, there were abutments for water pipes under the single-storey masonry vacuum breaker room, which intersected the room obliquely. In order to avoid disturbance, foundation could not be built on the abutments. Meanwhile, the spacing of abutments is small, and the bearing capacity of foundation soil is very weak. To solve these problems, foundation beams were set under the masonry structure to cross the abutments, oblique independent foundations were built between the abutments, and load was transferred to the foundations through columns. By arranging the components reasonably, they can go well with obstacles. A novel foundation design is proposed to ensure the construction of this project, which meets design requirements in limited space.
