Abstract:
The influence of a diaphragm wall construction on the settlement of adjacent ground is invesgated by three-dimensional finite element method. It has been found that the soil deformation caused by the diaphragm consturction has obvious spatial effect. The surface settlement behind the wall goes up with the increase of the number of constructed panels, and the influence decline with the increase of the distance between the constructing panel and the influenced point. The results of the example in this paper also show the maximum surface settlement caused by constructing fifteen panels is 3.3 times as large as that caused by consturcting a single panel.
