Abstract:
Based on the foundation pit of a certain proposed building in Taipei, with the finite element software PLAXIS, under the condition of asymmetric soil-rock combination, two different models are established respectively by considering or ignoring the distinctions of the soil stratum, and the changes of horizontal displacements, bending moments and the strut axial stresses in the process of excavation and back-fill are analyzed. The results show: that under the rough or accurate soil stratum conditions, the displacements and bending moment of the continuous wall differ a lot, so the stresses and deformations of the retaining structure depend not only on the loading conditions, but also highly on the soil stratum conditions; that when strata of both sides of foundation pits or loading conditions are different, the deformation and stress of the each side of the deep foundation should be checked respectively.
