Abstract:
In this paper, a full-scale four-story prestressed concrete building is used as the basis to assess two strengthening methods: enlarging section method and adding steel support. The commercial software ANSYS is used to model the test building and perform nonlinear time history analysis. The results show that, the added steel supports could share parts of earthquake loads and improve the structural seismic performance. The enlarging section method has limited effect on prestressed concrete structure.
