Abstract:
Due to construction of urban highway, St. James' Church needs to be translated towards the east. During the translation, a series of difficulties are overcome, such as ancient building structure, seriously damaged foundation and poor integral structural rigidity, etc., and the church is translated 10m towards the east. In the project, temporary and permanent reinforcement methods are adopted for the building structural system to successfully solve problems in stable translation of high and large-span structure. During translation, the original structure foundation is reinforced by enlarging its cross section, so the foundation bearing capacity is improved and foundation settlement is solved essentially. Meanwhile, during positioning after translation, the structure bottom is connected into a whole truss to obviously increase structural integrity, effectively protect the original appearance of historical and cultural superstructure and ensure succession of historical culture.
