Abstract:
In conjunction with the related specifications in the Chinese seismic code, the structural characteristics and strengthening demands of school buildings are analyzed. For multi-floor masonry buildings, the base-isolation retrofit using laminated rubber bearings are introduced regarding the calculation, structural fortification measures, and construction procedures. Taking the base-isolation retrofit of a four-storey masonry school building with the seismic fortification intensity of seven as an example, the technical details and the techno-economic indexes are provided.
