Abstract：
With acceleration of urbanization and increase of urban population, urban land, especially in urban center, becomes less and less, even more and more expensive. To meet the requirements of sustainable growth and development, the concept of multilayer city has been comprehensively used by both Chinese and foreign designers. Multilayer city extends urban space from traditional two dimensions to three dimensions and develops horizontal traffic system into tridimensional traffic system, successfully expanding existing urban space and alleviating the problems of limit land and complicated traffic in regions having high population density. Different foreign theories about multilayer city are compared with each other to study their generation, development and influence.
