Abstract:
Cities in the hot-summer and cold-winter zone in China are now under pressure of declining water resources and aggravating urban environment. Moreover, they are confronted with issues of the fragile urban wetland. Therefore, planners are developing measures such as using constructed wetland to improve urban water environment especially in hot-summer and cold-winter zone. The constructed wetland not only corresponds to requests of GB?50378—2014, but also fits for the special climate of hot-summer and cold-winter zone. The use of constructed wetland can promote the rainwater use rate without the replacement of community water landscape. Furthermore, the artificial wetland can save most resources during a building’s whole lifecycle and in the meantime improve the green building water-saving rate and nontraditional water use rate. In addition, constructed wetland in communities will be beneficial to urban air, vegetation, and water protection. The construction of artificial wetland can also decelerate the urban heat island effect and then advance the urban livability.
