Abstract:
Adopting Chinese three typical coastal areas’ typhoon fields from north to south, taking a super large cooling tower as the prototype, wind tunnel tests of pressure and vibration measurement for single tower are carried out, and average wind pressure distribution and wind induced vibration coefficient for tower under typhoon and wind load in code are got. The super large cooling tower’s internal forces under typhoon loads and wind loads in code are compared. It can be found that the internal forces under typhoon loads can be completely enveloped by the internal forces under wind loads in code, indicating that the cooling tower’s safety under typhoon loads can be guaranteed if the tower structure is designed according to the wind loads in code.
