Abstract:
The rock-socketed pile as a special pile style has the feature of high bearing capability, small settlement and good seismic performance, so it as the base of civil engineering has been widely utilized. Design theory and rules of rock-socketed pile are not perfect. In this paper, some issues about the rock-socketed pile are discussed. The bearing mechanism of rock-socketed pile need to be further research according to the different rock properties located around the pile. The value of the uniaxial compressive strength of rock is seriously deviated from the actual situation. The design of rock-socketed pile should have requirement of the length to diameter ratio. The details of small diameter pile are not fully applicable to large diameter rock-socketed pile.
