Abstract:
To control the residual deformation of the brace is one of the effective ways to reduce the residual displacement of the steel braced frame after the earthquake. This paper presents a new self-centering buckling- restrained brace (SCBRB) with double tendons in series. The results show that energy dissipation capacity of the SCBRB increased with the growing area of the core plate. The area of the prestressed tendons affected significantly the stiffness of the SCBRB in each stage. The initial tensile force affected the self-centering performance of the SCBRB. In all,the three parameters all influenced the deformation capacity of the brace.
