Abstract:
The elastic distortional buckling stress and stability coefficient of cold-formed steel lipped channel bending members are developed based on energy method. The comparison on calculated results of the elastic distortional buckling stress using developed method and finite strip method shows that the developed method has high precision. A uniform formula for distortional buckling stability and local buckling factor are introduced. The calculated method for global stability capacity of bending members is proposed based on the uniform formula. The developed uniform formula has higher precision to calculate the stability coefficient of partially stiffened elements and ultimate load-carrying capacity of cold-formed thin-walled steel lipped channel bending members than GB 50018—2002 Technical code of cold-formed thin-walled steel structures according calculating ultimate strength of the test specimens.
